RE: Canadian Athlete Representative Election Results

I write to announce the results of the 2016 election for Canadian Athlete Representative.

Having circulated the Call for Nominations to High Performance Athletes May 17, 2016, nominations closed on June 12th.

At the closing of the call for nominations, three candidates had been nominated: Ali Ferguson, Dieter Kreps and Mackenzie Salmon.

We confirmed that all three nominees met the eligibility requirements and all were willing to stand for election as the Canadian Athlete Representative for the 2016 to 2018 term.

Ballots were circulated to Canadian High Performance Athletes. The voting took place from June 24 to July 10. The ballots were tabulated and the Canadian Athlete Representative for the 2016 to 2018 term is Ali Ferguson.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Ali Ferguson, Dieter Kreps and Mackenzie Salmon for standing for the position of Athlete Rep. It is the willingness of athletes to serve in a volunteer capacity that ensures the continued athlete-centric evolution of lifesaving sport in Canada.
